Ça aurait étais mis en place suite au abus ces derniers temps..

There are extensions and plug-ins at many forum which shows modifed post by mods / admins.
Also they can see deleted posts about 30 days

Maybe Aymeric is developing this right now and in the meantime he just removed this option. Like Michbou say, this change is voluntary so there must be a reason.
