• take 10 junior forwards and start a match, if that works: the game can in some cases move players around in the cdf to allow matches to be played.
• enter your junior team in a junior championship. I don't know if this is automatic or not. But it seems to me that it would allow matches to be played in the same way.

Otherwise, the method that's sure to work is to recruit a team around your young nugget via scouting, offering the minimum amount as a bonus each time in a low-cost country. You'll then have a full squad at the start of next season to help your player's progress bar rise. Enjoy the game.

To solve your problem quickly, normally you can change the position of your youngsters, if you don't mind me saying so. It works for all players except the goalkeeper
There's a "+" next to the position when you enter the player's file
Then click on the position you need

Positions can be added, but this takes effect when the player is promoted, not in the CDF
