Hello dear managers.... What style of play would you suggest for training young players over the last 17 years?

Personally, I use short passes, counter-attacks and direct play
But I don't find one style better than the other, so I use all three on a daily basis ^^

With sizeable bonuses? On the opponent?

Yes, depending on the players I have an interesting bonus
Direct play: 90
Counter-attack: 145 (but lower ng)
Short pass: 50

I don't think one playing style is better than the other. Maybe offside trap looks like hardest to counter as positioning is not a stat that is usually developed unless you play with this style, but on the other hand, since it affects defense, you could argue that to counter it you need bonus in attack (direct play or counter attacks).

I've lost quite a few games where opponent didn't have a playing style ("normal") and I had over +200 bonus in midfield (with "short passing").
Bonus depends on the opposition, so you don't have the same bonus in every game even if you play the same formation, same players with same individual instructions.

I always play short passing, which usually brings me bonus of 220-240 (without taking into account the opposition's bonus in the same style), but I can achieve bonus of over 310.
I can also have (different formations and instructions with my first choice team) cca +10 in direct play, +20-25 in offside trap, +90 (or slightly more) in creative play and +90-100 (probably a bit more, but I'd never play in such formation) in counter attacking.
My players have low overall rating relative to their potential, but I'm not planning to change.
