I don't take your match in particular, I didn't really watch. But I can tell you that I had seasons where some matches my xg didn't move much, it sometimes happened very regularly in the same season.
So my opinion is simply that the XG react to the second-hand team (that's a fact) and that therefore you can statistically dominate a match without having an opportunity since it's random, and therefore an XG less strong than the opponent. And this is not new.
So an analysis of a match only by the xg to know if you took a carrot is a shortcut even if it's a very interesting element to watch. It allows a very quick analysis, sometimes accurate but sometimes wrong and often to be taken with caution.

I never believed in a catch-up phenomenon. just that some seasons, everything works and others not. In the same way as when you play small horses, sometimes you need 20 rolls before you make a 6 and then you will chain 4 or 5 out of 10 rolls. It works the same with second-hand, xg and de facto goals.

And I rage as much at the little horses as on VF. 🤣
