5 dias atrásHello,
Over the last few days, we’ve seen quite significant changes to the timing of in-match stats updates. Broadly speaking, today if you change team tactics, they are updated at the top of the minute (e.g. 15:00, though there can sometimes be a delay of a few minutes); some tactics are updated straight away, whilst others aren’t; changes to the sliders are sometimes applied instantly, as are other changes. Position changes aren’t always reflected immediately...
At the same time, drops in fitness are more or less smoothed out throughout the match, which also affects the stats slightly, but that’s not a bad thing.
In any case, being able to adjust tactics down to the second – or at least see the effects of those changes – shouldn’t be possible. It makes the match completely unreadable: how can you know which stats will be used to calculate the MDM? And if you have to make changes every 10 seconds in a tight match – which is still necessary to constantly adapt to the opposition – matches will become a nightmare.
To make things clearer, I think we should go back to something much simpler:
- Changes to instructions, style, positional changes and substitutions should be applied at fixed intervals: 4 minutes, for example (plus the 45th minute), to match the average over recent weeks. A new player would have no trouble knowing what counts. No more randomness from that point of view – I really do find it a real nuisance.
--> During those 4 minutes, the only thing that would vary is the players’ physical condition, hence the automatic drop in stats. --> I’ll stress this again: the randomness of not knowing which set of stats will count in advance (I’d prefer to make that clear) is really not great. It’s been a flaw in recent years. You could see it in hindsight, and there was a pattern to it (3–7 mins and 2–6 mins in recent weeks), but the random element was far too prominent. Returning to a regular or deterministic rhythm also gives you a chance to ‘catch your breath’ and makes it much more relaxing to follow the match.
- This brings me to a second point: changes to positions and playing style shouldn’t be visible to the opposition during that time. Whether on the club’s profile or the ‘Teams’ tab during a match. Firstly, because those playing on PC have a significant advantage when it comes to adjusting their team at the last minute, but also because it’s now extremely easy to automate these changes on a PC, making them just before the stats are updated in response to the opponent’s moves.
Have a good day,
Galy

5 dias atrásWell, I’m really not keen on fixed-interval changes of 3’ or 5’, with opponents glued to the screen and ready to press a button at 2’59” or 4’59” to catch the other off guard – no, thank you very much! And even worse were the days when a goal would appear at 5’01”, 10’01” and so on… and you’d have to wait until 4’58” to press your button. Help!
I’d be more in favour of updates at random intervals during matches (though I don’t know what the servers hosting the game can handle). For example, in a match there’d be 40 updates at unknown times, varying from match to match – say 1’43”, then 3’12”, then 7’29”, then 8’54” and so on…
In real life, when a manager makes a substitution or changes tactics, some changes have an immediate effect whilst others take a while to kick in. For example, if two players swap positions or a midfielder starts playing more defensively or more offensively, the effects might be felt 10 seconds later or 3 minutes later, depending on the circumstances – and the manager doesn’t know this in advance.
But the idea of tactical changes being implemented at regular intervals known to everyone? Frankly: no, no and no.

5 dias atrásIt is to avoid this that I am also suggesting NOT SEEING THE OPPONENT’S VARIOUS CHANGES before they take effect. I am not suggesting a complete return to the way things were.
What you didn’t like about the fixed intervals is exactly what you’ve had to do every 10 seconds for the past few days.
Personally, I struggle to see the point of randomisation here. Having to rely on luck to time things right in order to maximise your scoring potential is terribly frustrating. I found it frustrating enough in recent years, and it’s been even worse since last week. For someone who didn’t even know which ‘news items’ counted, it’s simply impossible to make sense of.
There’s already an element of randomness due to the probabilistic nature of the MDM. Is there really a need to add another layer to it?
There are boundaries between reality and the game, and I think that for VF, for the MDM, this is where that boundary lies.

5 dias atrásI agree that the regularity of the refreshes really wasn’t much fun, in the sense that everyone was waiting with 5 or 6 windows open, ready to click in the last 5 seconds… but it forced you to anticipate and try to read your opponent’s moves in order to adapt or counter them. It was a double-edged game of cat and mouse that wasn’t without its appeal in that respect.
Nevertheless, I’d also be in favour of ‘temporarily hiding’ the opponent’s actions. My idea would be to delay the refresh of changes from the moment they’re made, rather than at a time randomly determined by the game master.
Let me explain: each change would be applied between 30 seconds and 5 minutes (for example) after it has been confirmed. That way, neither the manager nor the opponent would know when the change would actually take effect.

5 dias atrásWell, you’re going to love the latest changes :)
Personally, I think it’s a good thing, to weed out those who couldn’t manage their team without relying on the human element. The ‘Easy Way’ crowd are going to be disappointed.
A blessing in disguise, even if it’s a shame we’ve had to resort to this.
I’ll leave you to discover the changes for yourselves. Whako and I have just been enjoying them ^^

4 dias atrásI don’t know the exact figure, but this morning during my league match I reckon I was close to 3,000 clicks, maybe even more.
In a match between two online opponents, you’re roughly making changes every 15 seconds to adjust your tactics. Especially if you’re trying to hold onto a lead. I find myself clicking 20 times a minute on the stats sheet to check the opponent’s changes, constantly adjusting my tactics, and hoping that the correct stats sheet is being used.
It’s really no fun at all – you don’t get a moment’s respite. If only we knew when it was actually going to count… But as it is, if you want to stand a chance, you’ve got no choice but to keep doing it.

4 dias atrásDo be careful, though, not to start a witch-hunt against ‘multi-stages’.
At the moment, I don’t get the impression that the game is riddled with bots. And even if there is a way to spot them, why punish 99.9 per cent of fair-play players just because the odd case of a potential cheater crops up here and there?
To back this up, I’d point out that right now we’re all being punished for player loans because a storm in a teacup has been stirred up.
Even today, apart from a single player about whom there are serious doubts, no other statistical anomalies – absolutely absurd ones – have been found.
So, because of one potential player, the whole VF community is being punished.
I’d like us not to succumb to mass hysteria and for the same approach to be taken in this potential case.
If the potential cheating can be uncovered, there’s no need to introduce preventive measures that frustrate the community. The potential sanction will surely be enough to act as a deterrent.

4 dias atrásLet me tell you, you’re dreaming. There are enough players – who’ve been caught out several times for the same nonsense – to show that it’s not enough for one manager to be punished for the others to start behaving sensibly.
As for training camps, unfortunately, if things had stayed as they were, a proliferation of short-term loans and training camps would now be the norm. At the time, other solutions were proposed but not adopted. But to think that simply realising there’s a problem, punishing one manager, and telling the others “watch out, eh!!!” will be enough is to be deluding oneself.

3 dias atrásNo, I’m not dreaming – this is how things actually work in our day-to-day lives.
The government doesn’t force car manufacturers to restrict their cars so they don’t exceed 130 km/h, thereby potentially putting off those who buy cars to drive them on racetracks.
It sets rules and carries out checks; everyone is free to do as they please, but if you get caught, you’ll be punished.
It’s the same here. There’s no need for preventative measures to restrict a whole section of the VF just because a few blokes got caught.
If the problem goes viral, then it will need to be dealt with, but for the moment that is absolutely not the case.
As for the training camps, player loans have been all but halted, even though it would have been enough to limit them to one player per camp, and everyone was in complete agreement on this.
All this for the sake of one player who’s head and shoulders above the rest – and who hasn’t been affected – and a few lads who’ve been caught.

3 dias atrásOk ca me rassure un peu ^^`

T’as eu l’impression dernièrement de jouer contre une IA ?

9 horas atrásMy proposal no. 1.
Remove the timer between changes and reduce the duration of matches to 15 minutes, with a constant number of updates equal to the current number of updates scheduled for a 90-minute match.
So, in practice, updates would occur at a rate six times faster.
In theory, this shouldn’t overload the servers hosting the game, as there would be roughly six times fewer matches in progress at any given moment.
Ultimately, there would be just as many goals, injuries and cards as there are now – which is well balanced – but when following a match, you’d experience 15 intense minutes rather than 90 minutes that are often tedious.

5 horas atrásPersonally, I reckon a 2-second timer would be more than enough.
That would let you change your strategy a bit quicker. If you want to switch four players’ positions (moving from centre to wing, for example), that takes 40 seconds, which is quite a long time.
Especially as if you fail, the command isn’t carried out when the timer runs out – you have to start again.
With a 2-second timer, you’ve already got a bit of a time constraint. And everyone is subject to this constraint, so we remain one step ahead of anything a fraudulent system (if that’s indeed the intended aim) might do.
