Hello,

Whilst chatting with my opponent this evening after our match, I noticed that the impact indicators on my screen were different from what he was telling me.

Is it possible that there are display glitches with the tactics and impacts that do not match the actual situation in the matches? Or does the display not update in real time, or perhaps only much later?

Thank you

Nicolas

Having checked, there is no calculation error: during your match, your two screens were indeed displaying opposing impacts (one the exact opposite of the other).

What led you astray was that the ‘Playing Style’ screen always shows your current or upcoming match. Once the final whistle has blown, it automatically switches to the next match — and you each had a different match scheduled. You were therefore comparing two calculations that did not relate to the same match. I’ll display the match date next to the opponent’s name to make it unambiguous.

Regarding your other questions: yes, the display updates in real time during a match (it takes into account your players’ current fitness levels). And something to bear in mind for the future: when the two clubs have different playing styles, the two screens aren’t mirror images of each other — each compares the two squads based on the characteristics of its own style. That wasn’t the case here; you were both playing a short-passing game.

As I was playing against Nicolas and won 3–1,
I can confirm that I was indeed in JC mode for 80 per cent of the match.
I started off in PC mode, but as Nicolas was at +45, I switched to JC mode, where I had a 65 bonus.

I alternated between JC and PC in the first half, but once it was 2–0, I stuck with JC.

There you go, if that helps

Jc => creative play
Pc => short pass

To make this clear

As for me, I kept a close eye on it throughout the match:

I could always see that my opponent was using the Short Pass strategy, just like me: +135 for me and +80 for my opponent (more or less)

and my opponent was always within about 0 to 2 in all the other shots

This new feature isn’t really practical for those who play in a particular style

To check the bonuses and penalties of an opponent playing a different style, you have to click on that tiny thing (on a mobile) … Doing this in the middle of an important match slows down your reaction time because you have to change instructions, positions, compare, adapt and prepare the next move – none of which helps… It was more practical before (needs reviewing)

Thank you, Aymeric, for your input; following discussions with VALENCIA and others, I’ve understood the reason behind what seemed to me to be a display issue ^^ but just because I’ve understood it doesn’t mean I’ll know how to use it any better...

because since 28 November 2018, I’ve been completely lost with the arrival of the Impacts

(…) if my opponent is playing with a creativity rating of +80, could it be that my screen shows them at +2 for creativity, whilst it appears they’re playing with a passing impact rating of +80, even though I’m playing with a passing impact rating of +135?? (...)

Yes, that’s entirely possible, and it’s one of the most disorienting pitfalls of the live match display on Virtuafoot Manager

If you feel you’re seeing inconsistent figures, it isn’t a calculation bug, but a direct consequence of the way the game displays statistics
and handles style match-ups.

(...) They take advantage of the ‘asymmetrical’ effect of the match screens

This is a classic trap, as confirmed by the game’s administrators: the two managers do not see the same effects on their respective screens if their tactics differ.

Each screen compares the two squads according to the criteria of its own playing style. If your opponent plays a Short Passing style (midfield-focused) and you play a different style (such as Direct Play, which is attack-focused), the engine will show a huge boost in the midfield on their screen, whilst your screen will calculate the impact based on your own instructions (...)

Well, I’ve read all over the place that coaches were unhappy with the MDM…

Personally, based on Aymeric’s reply to my post, the few clues he’s given in other posts, and my opponent’s comments following my defeat, I’ve taken a fresh approach to the game and I’ve learnt something about VF that I’ve been putting into practice for a few days now...

And since then: I’ve got three league wins, a draw against the league leaders – “and I nearly won at the end of the match” – and zero goals conceded!

I hope it lasts and that it’s not just a flash in the pan
