Hello Aymeric,

Following your message yesterday, and based on our experience – particularly last night – we wanted to see what would happen by changing tactics every two minutes during a match against an AFK and unbalanced opponent.

We did this in this particular match:

#match?mid=6983297

Every two minutes, we switched from attacking down the middle to attacking down the wings. (See the two stats sheets.) In both cases, we dominated completely, resulting in an average of at least 3.5 xG per match.

Here are the xG figures for the match (their progression throughout the match: 0.0 xG generated between the 25th and 90th minutes); this is mathematically impossible without data capping, and it cannot be a smoothing effect between the two stats sheets, as that would still have generated some xG. The AFK opponent showed a consistent trend

For comparison, a match with no changes:

This didn’t exist two weeks ago. So the question is: what should we do? Is it a bug? There’s no indication of this anywhere; you explained yesterday that there are no hidden variables, but in this case it’s hard not to see a hidden mechanism or a bug at play. Previously, we used to get a stat penalty with every change: that was tangible. Now the stats are excellent, but does any change block our actions for a certain amount of time? How long? When should we correct an imbalance? We need a guide to make sense of it all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Galy

I mentioned this in other threads, particularly when ced90 had his specific IS issue and Aymeric replied.

A script, or a variable, has been in place since around 8 September to reduce the probability of an event following a tactical change (perhaps offensive tactics only?)

This ‘script’ had been scaled back after 15 September.

It came back the day before yesterday or yesterday…

Three variables that are driving managers who want to play the game up the wall are now on this ‘new’ mdm.
