I’m wondering if anything has changed regarding how red cards are awarded?
For the past two seasons, I’ve been picking up red cards very frequently – often straight away – even though I’m playing without aggression and in a part of the pitch where I’m clearly dominating. I don’t understand it, and I don’t want to believe it’s just down to chance.
Bad luck does happen, but not for a while now.

Hello. Looking at your current match, I can see that your possession is very low. I think that’s one of the factors increasing the risk of cards.

This reinforces the idea that dominating the midfield in the style of Spain or Barça is virtually unbeatable. I find it hard to believe that the probability is based solely on that.

The frequency of fouls seems to have increased recently. Mechanically, this leads to more red cards. According to my data set, we’re now seeing one straight red card every eight matches, compared to one every ten previously.

Mind you, that doesn’t explain why my bloody best player seems to love getting sent off. ^^

We’ll use 20 per cent possession as the threshold for calling fouls.
