A second edition of the cup without the winner of the previous edition has little esteem or value in my eyes. Especially when you see clubs that are inactive, or with a squad not really worthy of a cup of this level.
And it's not because he's my friend that I say that. It's factual and universal.

Legends only means "old" here.
I think you have to take it that way. Former clubs, once formidable for some, stagnant for others. This cup is reserved for them.
We'll give it the importance we want. Let's treat it as a profitable exhibition cup and be done with it?
There'll be a few nice fixtures, a winner who'll potentially have had a less complex career than a LdC or a Tournoi de Noel (version 1).
Oh, and a small cash prize for those who go far, yes, that may create a feeling for some, but never mind?
We'll see you at the next Christmas Cup, which, if it doesn't go wrong, will give everyone a chance to shine.

In the meantime, let's let the old-timers enjoy themselves, take their money, dream of a title, and so much the better if it makes them happy. We should even rejoice.

The last edition having totally messed up, it was an opportunity for ALL to compete against each other.
The Legends Tournament would have been an opportunity too, but that would have spoiled it.
So we can look forward to a good big Tournament this season 🙂

Je pense qu'il faut le prendre comme ça. D'anciens clubs, autrefois redoutables pour certains, stagnants pour d'autres. Cette coupe leur est réservée.
On y accordera l'importance qu'on voudra. Prenons la pour une coupe d'exhibition bien rentable et basta ?
Il y'aura quelques affiches sympa, un vainqueur qui aura potentiellement eu un parcours moins complexe qu'une LdC ou un Tournoi de Noel (version 1).

It's easy to understand what the legend means on VF. That's not the problem. If you only want to include old-timers in a tournament, no problem. But, in that case, if you have to fill in the gaps, you might as well put in other older players, not necessarily "legendary" ones, rather than level 1s who are 7-8 days old. In any case, it seems more logical to me.

In short, as you say, let them have their fun, especially as, for my part, given my geographical location, I haven't been allowed to take part in a cup on VF for as long as I can remember, so it's none of my business, but I do think it's a shame to fill the cup in this way.

I've been on vf for 12 years and I don't follow legend because I've preferred training to competition for years. .... So yes, I think the term legend should be reviewed....

Especially when the 300-plus legends include clubs that left the game a long time ago
