Legends only means "old" here.
I think you have to take it that way. Former clubs, once formidable for some, stagnant for others. This cup is reserved for them.
We'll give it the importance we want. Let's treat it as a profitable exhibition cup and be done with it?

The last edition having totally messed up, it was an opportunity for ALL to compete against each other.

It's easy to understand what the legend means on VF. That's not the problem. If you only want to include old-timers in a tournament, no problem. But, in that case, if you have to fill in the gaps, you might as well put in other older players, not necessarily "legendary" ones, rather than level 1s who are 7-8 days old. In any case, it seems more logical to me.

In short, as you say, let them have their fun, especially as, for my part, given my geographical location, I haven't been allowed to take part in a cup on VF for as long as I can remember, so it's none of my business, but I do think it's a shame to fill the cup in this way.
