I'm opening this post to talk about the event, ask questions and more.

I'll start with a question: Clubs, are we going to play with the squad that is posted in each nation?

I think that's right. The qualifiers will be with your squad though.

Some nations, like Senegal, Algeria and others, don't have a squad. How are things going with them?

As with all tournaments of this type, you do the qualifiers (a knockout cup) with your squad.

Then you play (normally) with the players who will be selected for the World Cup.

It would have been interesting to have the same team for everyone for the qualifiers.

So who am I going to choose now?

Comme pour chaque tournois de ce type, tu fais les qualifications (une coupe à élimination directe) avec ton effectif.

Ensuite, tu joues (normalement) avec les effectifs qui seront sélectionnés au mondial.

Yes, the qualification phase with the same number of players would mean that the same managers would always be at the top of the vf rankings. It's a shame for those who wanted to learn about competitions other than the league and cup.

It doesn't say that it will be the same nations as in the World Cup, but we assume that that will be the case.

And even there the selections will not be equal.

Eh oui, la phase de qualification avec son effectif reviendrait à voir toujours les mêmes managers en haut du classement vf , c'est dommage pour ceux qui voulaient s'initier à d'autres compétitions que son championnat et sa coupe.

Il n'est pas écrit que ce sont les mêmes nations qu'en coupe du monde mais on suppose que ça sera le cas.

Et même là encore les sélections ne seront pas égales entre eux, comme dit hazard14. C'est encore dommage

It makes sense for the World Cup, otherwise you might as well not have it at all and have a cup with everyone called 'France'.

On the other hand, for the qualifiers, it's not stupid, everyone should play with the country chosen to be on an equal footing :)

I have a question about team strength.
I'm using Turkey as an example but I think that many (if not all) nations are concerned: The two starting DFCs are 22 years old NG 85 and 24 years old NG 83.
However, when you click on them, the player profiles indicate 27 years old NG 81 and 29 years old NG 77, which is a lot less sexy...

So, question: will we get the players shown or players at the level of the existing profiles?

Yep, that's pretty clever, but how do you schedule a match between the same team and 2 different managers?

It's still an exceptional competition... plus VF, I think the format is great!

I imagine that it should be possible to create "fictitious" teams and give access, as with the federations, to all the clubs registered in the team's cup ^^.

It's going to require a lot of clubs to be created and then abolished, but basically it's a better idea to put everyone on an equal footing.

I wouldn't know how to answer that ^^.
But imagine if it's possible... you've got 100 managers who want to do it for France (100 is the minimum)... how can you manage that in a knockout cup? (with 50 matches on the same day for 1 and only 1 team).

The idea of playing the play-offs with an identical team may seem attractive.

Except that if everyone plays the play-offs with identical teams, i.e. with strictly the same strengths and weaknesses, you can be pretty sure that it will be a succession of deadlocked, closed games with matches decided by a throw of the dice, and if no team has been lucky enough to score a goal, there will be an accumulation of matches ending in Russian penalty roulette.

If this model is adopted, we might as well draw lots to determine the 48 managers who will play in the finals.

Sauf que si tout le monde joue les éliminatoires avec des équipes identiques donc avec strictement les mêmes forces et les mêmes faiblesses, vous pouvez être quasi sûrs que ce sera une succession de matchs bloqués et fermés avec des matchs qui se joueront sur un coup de dés et si aucune équipe n'a eu le coup de pot de marquer un but, pour trancher tous les 0-0 il y aura une accumulation ...

I disagree.... the Freers World Cup (the most exciting competition ever created on VF!!) has, in the past, proved the opposite. The squads were very similar (for those who didn't know, I'd point out that the competition was only played with players from the free transfer market, from the same country and with an NG limited to 20), yet the results could go either way, depending on the tactical choices, styles of play, levels of aggression or risk taken by each side.
Never before has a competition so clearly revealed the best tacticians on VF!

In the free CDM we had the choice of composition and tactics, as you said.
With the teams in this VF WC 2026, we're very limited. The squad doesn't allow us to vary and have several styles or tactics. I agree with Myforsans, it would be pretty much the same 11 in each camp. And that means a huge lottery.

On the other hand, I agree with you on everything else: the CDM for the free teams was really cool.

It would be nice to get this free CDM competition back on track, everyone starts on an equal footing and everyone is free to adopt their own system and style of play on equal terms 👍

Yes, it has nothing to do with the Free World Cup.

At the time there were hundreds, maybe even thousands of free players. It was quite easy to make a nationality. Today... Unfortunately, it's impossible.

The qualifications will be done with our clubs so that on the day only one will be the coach for the World Cup.
As for the empty squads for the moment, it's probably because the squad isn't known. It'll come for the moment, but it's not a big deal because we're playing with our squads.
I played in the last World Cup with Turkey and I loved it, even if I didn't go far this time I'm going to try to play with them. New Zealand

I remember for the first edition of this format (I can't remember which year), I managed to qualify to become Saudi Arabia's coach. There were a few (small) nations that were desperately short of players. I only had 11 players, none of whom were strikers. We had asked in vain for a full squad to play in such a competition. So I didn't play the game and gave up without playing in the cup. Admittedly, given the nation I was playing for (it's easier to win to select Saudi Arabia than France or Brazil), I didn't stand much of a chance, but having to give up because the mdj didn't want to provide us with enough players was a real shame. I won't be taking part in this kind of event again.

Yes, it would be a shame if this event wasn't organised fairly. The best thing would be to have the 23 players selected by each Irish nation so as to have the choice and depth of squad to manage each nation properly. Because if some, like Spain and France, have 23 or more players and the others have just 11, it's going to be complicated to play fairly as there's already a big difference in the number of players from each nation.

I think the numbers will be updated when the official lists are announced.
