Would it be possible to have a bit more consistency in the leagues?
I play in the Belgian D2, which is split into two groups of eight… the two teams relegated are in the same group, and the four promoted teams are in another group. Wouldn’t it be possible to have one team relegated from Division 1 in each group and two promoted teams?
Every season, we end up with one Division 2 that’s very strong, and the other that’s much more manageable…

To be more precise, given the two teams relegated from Division 1 plus the relegated teams, there were four teams promoted from Division 2 to Division 1 and six promoted from Division 3 to Division 2.

D2A: The two teams relegated from Division 1 plus six teams that avoided relegation
D2B: The six teams promoted from D3, plus the fifth and sixth-placed teams in last season’s D2B table.

If it’s completely random, the odds must have been good.

It’s completely random.
We’ve had a similar case in Languedoc… the D2 Group 1 team was much stronger than the D2 Group 2 team; that’s just how it goes.

D2A : Les 2 descendants de d1 + 6 maintenus
D2B : Les 6 montants de d3 + le 5 et 6eme au classement de la D2B de la saison passée.

Si c’est totalement aléatoire, la côte devait être belle.

According to my calculations, there is just under an 8 in 100,000 chance that Group 2B will consist of the six teams and the two managers who finished 5th and 6th in Group 2B, in the scenario you described. It is therefore unlikely that the draw is truly random.

As far as I can remember, it’s been 4 or 5 seasons now that the two teams have been going up and down together… I know this because they’re always going up and down the divisions, lol
Add that to your statistical model.
Blast you, Tchub – the D1 has lost two more players than expected this season… we need you to keep the standard high in the D1 ;)

Gerets: De mémoire ça fait quand même 4-5 saisons que les 2 descendants se retrouvent ensemble… je le sais pour faire souvent l’ascenseur lol
À rajouter a votre modèle statistique.
Merde à toi Tchub, la D1 a perdu 2 soldats en plus que prévu cette saison… on a besoin de toi pour garder haut le niveau en d1 ;)
