2 giorni faGood morning, good evening, everyone.
This is not an easy post for me to write.
I’m writing to let you know that the Nexus adventure on VF is coming to an end. Indeed, as we move from season 148 to 149, after 26 seasons – that’s four years – Nexus is coming to a close. It will still exist, with some clubs more or less on hiatus, but the project itself is coming to an end.
It’s a very difficult decision, but the current state of VF, in my view, no longer allows us to hope to build much more with Nexus. An increasingly small community, few new players, the exodus of all the highly active clubs towards the major alliances (which is understandable – I’m not criticising that), and the fact that the major alliances remain as large as ever mean that smaller alliances – even those with a rich history behind them – can no longer survive and are destined (in my view) to close down sooner or later.
So, so Nexus will still be in Division 1 next season, but I doubt there’ll be many inter-league matches played; I apologise for that in advance, but I’ve asked an admin, and it’s not possible to manually relegate the team due to the project being wound up. I just hope this doesn’t distort the competition.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to Nexus.
Building a major, well-recognised alliance was my ultimate goal on VF, and I feel I’ve succeeded, even though it’s coming to an end today. I’d like to thank the founders: Eden, Fabelous, Maradonald, Unagi, and of course, my friend and partner, Adrimax! To those who joined the project very early on, such as Villa, Grissais and Kevlor! My thoughts also go out to those who have already moved on to new adventures, but who have left their mark on the alliance and on me personally: OmStar, Romy, Socrate and Maxence, to name but a few.
On the competitive front, we’re calling it a day after 22 seasons in Division 1, including 11 top-six finishes, several fourth-place finishes, and a magnificent podium finish in season 136.
This marks the end of an era, one that makes me proud and leads me to say that VF really is unlike any other game, despite all its flaws.
Thank you all.
Dudepike.

I understand how you feel; with the NWO, we find ourselves thinking about it – after 15 seasons, we keep adding another season each time until the day it’s all over.
Training members only to see them move on to better opportunities – it puts me off a bit, but unfortunately, the longevity of members isn’t what it used to be in these leagues
Stay strong, everyone – I hope to see you up against us, or why not even join our ranks?

2 giorni faThe Nexus… it helped me rediscover the joy of playing, of sharing little moments (or big ones – my old epic posts have never been forgotten!), and it allowed me to meet some brilliant people, with whom we shared so much, beyond the French-language community. We also came across a few brainless lot, but that was just because we needed to have even more fun. And it never bothered us unduly.
The Nexus is also, in my view, the last real collaborative project to have started from virtually nothing (and yes, we’re not talking here about 10 Division 1-level players getting together, but just a few lads who wanted to create something) and which has lasted, at a time when starting from scratch, with so few players and newcomers on board, is practically mission impossible. We even managed the feat of regularly finishing in the top 5 and, if memory serves, twice in the top 3. With a win ratio of over 2 on both occasions, if I’m not mistaken. And, once again, to convince the big clubs – it took Adrimax hours of brown-nosing to bring them round to our side! :D
Cheers, mate!

2 giorni faIt’s really sad to read this news.
As Dudepike has rightly pointed out, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep our alliances going. Club renewal has ground to a halt. Between members leaving in disgust at the mdm and the constant poaching by the top two teams to snap up the best players… it’s difficult to maintain our standard.
Thank you to the Nexus members for these seasons of competition

2 giorni faThis clearly illustrates that the divisions in the 16-team league no longer reflect the reality of the game at all, namely: fewer and fewer (genuine) active clubs, and more and more clubs that prefer to be in Division II or III of a large league rather than in a league that isn’t in contention for the title..... I’m talking about IE matches, because of course a league isn’t just about that.

C'è 32 hHi everyone
It’s really sad news that an alliance like Nexus is disbanding! But I also really regret that so many managers are turning their backs on trying to win a title, preferring instead to keep joining the same old alliances! I feel that this all too often ends up jeopardising the very existence or long-term viability of an alliance, and reduces the sense of competition all the more! The mentality of the managers – from a different era, which used to be evident through the alliances – is no longer what I experienced when I first started out! And the list of honours is now more important than belonging to an alliance. I’m not saying that the top two alliances don’t deserve their track records, but I find this constant head-to-head rivalry a bit tiresome! Aymeric is developing his game, but I now feel that this style of competition – or the way the alliances operate – has become obsolete in my eyes! It’s time for a change – I’m in favour of more competition, and making it harder to win an alliance title by simply choosing one of the top two alliances for one or two seasons and then moving on! I don’t know what the best solution is, but change often brings something new, rather than the status quo we have at the moment! But I think it’s time to put an end to sister alliances (1, 2 or even 3)! Should we limit the number of managers per alliance, reduce their total number of appearances per season, ensure that all managers in the same league play the same number of days based on the total number of matches, or establish a system requiring participation for x seasons to validate league honours and prevent ‘mercenaries’ – otherwise we’ll lose league title records, and so on! There will be those unhappy with this change – of that I’m certain – but at some point we must recognise that we’ve reached the end of a system that’s diminishing the challenge! In society, everyone wants everything straight away, and values such as patience, self-sacrifice, perseverance and resilience are being lost!
I’m in favour of the change, and I’m sure many managers are too – for greater competition and more uncertainty over the league title each season!
This deserves a serious, constructive debate, to bring in some fresh ideas and move on to a ‘version 2.0’ of the league system!

Hello Beber,
I’m far from being a mercenary, but there’s some truth in what you say and some falsehood – or rather, a different perspective
The truth is that the way IEs currently work (as opposed to alliances) means that alliances must have a significant number of players capable of playing in IEs (not everyone can play 10 IEs per season – it’s a question of squad numbers). So the ones that stand the test of time are those capable of having a sufficient number of players within their ranks AND of offering them the chance to compete for an attractive challenge (winning the alliance championship, being in the running for …). Otherwise, those who remain in their alliances without these two aspects do so out of convenience or because there are deep bonds between the players. For example, the RTG, which I know quite well, is not, in my view, at risk of disappearing because, whilst it may not compete for the top spots every season, it has at its core a solid group of virtual friends and members who bring the group together (even if it, too, sometimes loses members looking for something else). Leagues that were created by groups of friends AND with the aim of winning something in the end will struggle to last. This is my observation and reflects my personal view only.
So the reality is that as long as you don’t change the fundamental structure (the way the IE works over 100 matches with a ranking of 16 alliances), things will stay this way.
What’s not true – or at least what feels different – is that, having been part of both alliances, they’ve managed to create something other than a band of mercenaries. A KPI: the average length of membership of the clubs in their sister alliance. If I follow your reasoning, these clubs should be leaving to join other leagues in a bid to win something or become more significant. That’s not the case. Do you want to do away with the sister leagues? 99 per cent of the clubs making them up would remain in the LR or the CP. Why? Because these alliances – perhaps better than the others (let’s give them credit for once) – have managed to foster a genuine spirit of unity, much like a real-life corporate culture, and old-timers like me (in my forties) feel right at home there. When you go to the LR or the CP, you know what you’re going to find. The identity is clear.
Finally, I’d say that within these groups, there are far more members who keep them alive. Mind you: I’m not saying there aren’t any in the other groups. But there are also some in the LR and the CP. Otherwise, the divide between these groups and the others would be smaller.
I could go into more detail, but that’s the gist of it. From my point of view

C'è 30 hMy aim is simply to provoke a reaction in order to create more uncertainty regarding the results and ensure it doesn’t boil down to a head-to-head! But I do recognise that the LR and the CP certainly perform better than the other alliances! However, more and more managers want an alliance title and are taking the easy option! And the shift in mindset is here, and everyone can see it! The end of Nexus is a prime example of something we shouldn’t continue to see, due to the defection of a few key managers from one alliance or another, which can undermine an alliance’s long-term viability! In short, this ends up systematically undermining competition, season after season. Is reducing the number of managers per alliance, or the total number of alliances, the solution to finally creating a more competitive environment with many more alliances – rather than the handful we have at present – and, above all, much, much less uncertainty regarding the final winners!
But if you want to stick with a system that suits everyone! No problem 😅

There’s something you’re all overlooking when you come along with your huge, one-dimensional clichés.
The fact is, a manager who leaves a top-10 side for a top-3 side isn’t necessarily doing it for the title.
Yes, there are a few who do, but they’re in the minority.
No, what they’re looking for is to play with lads who share their motivation – whether it’s for personal development, or simply for the atmosphere, the camaraderie; in short, to see some life.
On the CP Discord, there are several hundred messages a day. It’s absolutely buzzing – sometimes a bit too much. But the lads who join us know that, alongside VF, they’ll be with a bunch of active lads and won’t feel alone in the game. They’ll be able to ‘grind’, learn, chat, have fun and so on.

C'è 30 hI’m not so sure it’s a minority; if anything, it’s the opposite.
It’s understandable all the same – if you’ve got the team to challenge for the title at some point, you want to try and win it.
It’s up to us in the smaller leagues to find the resources to give them what they’re looking for.
Going after the big leagues is pointless – it’s always worked that way.
If the ranking system doesn’t change, we’ll have to find another way to keep our members.

C'è 30 hFar be it from me to pick on you, given the replies you’ve already received, but to take the specific example of the Nexus, I’ve noticed that quite a few members have joined the ELU. It’s an alliance I’m not personally familiar with, but they must have found common ground that brings them together in the game, and that’s a wonderful thing. So, for once, we could have avoided harping on about the ‘it’s always the same people who win’ angle. And I agree with the view that the alliances that last are those with a genuine foundation in the game, with leaders, mutual support and camaraderie amongst the managers. Not those formed solely to win titles. These are doomed to fail in the long run: you need to build more than that to last.
And there are alliances that have been around since the game began, which don’t prioritise competition at all costs and are doing very well indeed. It’s not up to the top-tier alliances to adapt in order to create a semblance of suspense, but rather up to those who want to reach those competitive standards in the game to improve. I don’t think they’re magicians; they’re just more committed, and that doesn’t mean they’re emotionless geeks.

C'è 29 hI think (and this is just my opinion) that Nexus has, unfortunately, been beaten at its own game
Seen from the outside – and I may be talking nonsense here – but they forged ties with the CP, and quite a few clubs joined them because they couldn’t win the title (that’s just my opinion; I don’t know the real reason behind it), and it wasn’t the smaller clubs – the backbone of Nexus – that left
They’ve no doubt found what they were looking for there and so didn’t come back, which has considerably lowered their standard and the morale of those who stayed behind.
I’m certain that without that, Nexus would still be around today, playing at a good standard.
I’d predicted how things would unfold at Adrimax well before the official announcement of its closure.
It’s a real shame, because Nexus could have been an alternative option for clubs that might have grown tired of always seeing the same teams win the title.

Abolishing sister alliances would be counterproductive. For a start, I struggle to see how that could actually be done. People would still come together for a common goal, shared interests or some other bond.
That said, the CP or LR (like other dominant alliances in the past) would find it infinitely easier to recruit the best players.
This system is self-perpetuating.
That said, I don’t entirely agree with Aloisio; there’s plenty of activity elsewhere too. However, no one can judge a club for choosing to join the LR or CP out of convenience. It’s still true for the vast majority of their new signings. That’s not a judgement. These days, you don’t stand a 1 per cent chance of winning the title if you’re not part of one of those two alliances.
But we’re playing a game, and if we want to win, that’s where we have to go these days. Anyone who prioritises a track record above all else will go there, and that’s only natural. That’s not going to change any time soon. I’d even say that having two leagues sharing the titles does at least provide a challenge, as the title isn’t guaranteed for either of them.
That said, without a overhaul of the IEs (probably reducing the number of IEs per alliance) and, above all, without bringing new players into the game, nothing will change.
But overhauling the IEs just to counter the LR or CP? That would strike me as a sign of weakness, I think.

2 points because I think your message responds to mine
I never said that CP and LR staff necessarily work better than others. Or at least, it’s not quite that black and white. But simply that their long-standing presence and identity are deeply rooted. That managers within the organisation keep the spirit of cooperation alive. That friendships have been forged there. That they present a clear challenge. And that, as Sora says, they perhaps also allow you to climb the ranks faster than in other departments.
Then you talk about mindset, but your last sentence speaks volumes to me. I put forward a different point of view and you say, ‘Oh, come on, but if you want to keep this system…’. You can check my posts: I’m in favour of a change. But we need to agree on what that change should be, because according to some, reducing D1 to 8 alliances, for example, would favour the bigger alliances. It’s funny, but I’m not 100 per cent sure. We just need to find a change that suits everyone. And if necessary, I’m happy to contribute to the discussion. Others too, with a range of views. It’s coming together, but the MDM needs to initiate it or give the go-ahead.
So, coming back to the mindset: here, attitudes have changed, and previously the debate would have moved forward. Here, it often gets bogged down in rigid, polarised positions.

I’ll reply to you here, Galy, since you’ve quoted me: I didn’t write that the other unions aren’t active. Once again, at the RTG for example, things get very busy at times and at other times it’s quieter, but that’s the case everywhere, including at the LR and even at the CP. As for the rest, I have no particular comments: it is only through the IE system that the way the agreements operate might change, and even then it’s not certain, given the current dominance of the ‘big two’ and the way they operate overall (mutual support, exploring new initiatives such as the shop, etc.).

Hi everyone,
It’s sad news, as you say, to see the end of a partnership that has left its mark on VF.
I agree with you on some points, but when you look at the real world, exactly the same thing happens: all the players want to join Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and so on...
All big clubs capable of winning loads of titles.
So I can understand why players want to join the big clubs.
It’s up to the other clubs to try and beat LR/CP, not the other way round.
If next year we were to tell Pogacar and his team: ‘No, we won’t let you ride the Tour de France because you’re too strong’, are you serious?
If LR and CP are dominating so well today, it’s because the management of these two teams is excellent.

C'è 24 hI wasn’t planning to post here anymore, but given the conversation, I’ll go ahead and do it ^^
As far as I’m concerned, a change to how the alliance rankings work is needed – not to put an end to the dominance of the two giants, but because it’s in keeping with the spirit of the game!
There are simply far fewer active clubs than before… And as a result, this leads to a concentration of the biggest and most active ones winning. It’s as simple as that!
In my opinion, simply reducing the number of IPs per alliance from 100 to 75 or 70 would help. And then, as a second step, reducing the number of members in an alliance from 50 to 30, for example, would serve the same purpose. Now, you might say that the big alliances will set up third-tier alliances to make room for everyone – perhaps…
PS: For Mina, the comments and well-meaning remarks along the lines of “what a shame” and “Nexus could have been a contender” are truly sickening when we all know what you said or did back when Nexus was around. ;) We’ve got a good memory, and a sense of honour – especially given that, on the very evening of the announcement, private messages flooded in to our members, with you lot pouncing like vultures.

Il y a beaucoup moins de clubs actifs qu'avant, tout simplement... Et du coup ca entraine une concentration des plus gros/actifs pour gagner. Tout simplement!
A mon avis, le fait simplement déjà d'abaisser le nombres d'IE par en...
Please relax – your ‘squabbles’ don’t affect the whole community. Personally, I don’t even know who you are…
You’re talking about a conflict of interest that goes back several years. Holding onto a grudge for so long over a virtual game is a real shame… For 90 per cent of the FYM members I chat to regularly, we’re just enjoying the game peacefully, without the slightest conflict.
In short, if you have an issue with specific members, name them, but don’t use terms that apply to the whole alliance. Thank you.

That’s what you call being opportunistic!
Messi and S. Ramos were rivals in La Liga, yet they ended up at PSG with a shared interest – who would have bet a single euro on the two of them getting on well outside of that context? No one.
So, if any members are interested in the FYM project, we’ll welcome them, just as we also turn some members away. Everyone has the choice to do as they please; an invitation isn’t an obligation to join.
Just a quick reply – I’ll leave it to the person concerned to respond if they wish.

C'è 23 hMy mate, let’s not let this thread go off the rails – it doesn’t deserve that.
There was nothing nasty in what I said – quite the opposite, in fact.
I don’t know what you’re on about when you say I sent private messages to your clubs.
You’re completely wrong – the only person I contacted is someone I’ve always had a good relationship with and a special bond with.
Under no circumstances did I wait for you to finish before coming along to pick the bones, as you put it.
We’ve met in real life and had a meal together at a restaurant, so I don’t understand why you’re being so relentless.
Anyway, let’s keep this thread clean.

C'è 23 hHi there, Dud! That’s a shame about Nexus. I wish you all the best for the future.
As for me, I’d love to put forward some concrete proposals on the agreements again, but at this point – even after several years of making constructive suggestions in the game – I doubt this one will go down well. So, from now on, I’d rather just play quietly on my own, until I too can hang up my boots after so many years on vf… which shouldn’t be too long now.
