Hace 15hHello Aymeric,
Following your message yesterday, and based on our experience – particularly last night – we wanted to see what would happen by changing tactics every two minutes during a match against an AFK and unbalanced opponent.
We did this in this particular match:
Every two minutes, we switched from attacking down the middle to attacking down the wings. (See the two stats sheets.) In both cases, we dominated completely, resulting in an average of at least 3.5 xG per match.

Here are the xG figures for the match (their progression throughout the match: 0.0 xG generated between the 25th and 90th minutes); this is mathematically impossible without data capping, and it cannot be a smoothing effect between the two stats sheets, as that would still have generated some xG. The AFK opponent showed a consistent trend

For comparison, a match with no changes:

This didn’t exist two weeks ago. So the question is: what should we do? Is it a bug? There’s no indication of this anywhere; you explained yesterday that there are no hidden variables, but in this case it’s hard not to see a hidden mechanism or a bug at play. Previously, we used to get a stat penalty with every change: that was tangible. Now the stats are excellent, but does any change block our actions for a certain amount of time? How long? When should we correct an imbalance? We need a guide to make sense of it all.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Galy

Hace 13hI believe Aymeric mentioned that, although the changes to the statistics are instantaneous, it can take up to 10 minutes for the players to implement these instructions.
If instructions are changed every two minutes, and if we take his word for it, this could explain the absence of xG.
This is, of course, just a theory.

Hace 13hYes, that’s how I understood it too; the problem is that if that were the case, we’d essentially see a lag in the xG figures for this sort of match, not a complete absence.
Which suggests another phenomenon (or a bug).

Hace 14hI mentioned this in other threads, particularly when ced90 had his specific IS issue and Aymeric replied.
A script, or a variable, has been in place since around 8 September to reduce the probability of an event following a tactical change (perhaps offensive tactics only?)
This ‘script’ had been scaled back after 15 September.
It came back the day before yesterday or yesterday…
Three variables that are driving managers who want to play the game up the wall are now on this ‘new’ mdm.

Hace 13hAnd in the end, the game (which isn’t really a game any more, as there’s no need to interact) punishes the two blokes sitting in front of their screens.
This is completely at odds with the notion of enjoyment

Hace 8hIn the example from this morning, you can see that I didn’t generate any xG, despite having 80 to 85 per cent possession over 65 minutes. I literally have a better chance of winning the EuroMillions twice than of not having a single chance created in my favour with that level of possession.
Yet, two weeks ago, that would never have happened. Whether we were moving the ball regularly or not, every chance inevitably generated xG for one side or the other, and that might or might not have turned into a chance or a goal.
So, what happened between the 25th and the 90th minute? Only Aymeric has the answer.
Aymeric said: “The latest changes made to the game are purely cosmetic, including the presentation of match statistics. They simply reproduce information that was already visible elsewhere.”
It has to be said that this isn’t true, or else it’s an unintended bug.

Hace 10hI hope Aymeric will provide you with an answer; it’s been a week now that 50 clowns on VF have been on anti-anxiety medication and have been rambling on about the same thing throughout every thread…Next up is the CGT’s stance (via a vote or referendum that’s bound to be rigged by the clout of the D1 alliances and their sister organisations).
He’s already replied twice (admittedly not in your favour so far), and the problem is that the more he replies, the more he’s pestered… The line between persistence and harassment is a fine one.
What you’re still missing is that there’s no doubt some people are already analysing all the match data using AI and the like, so fear not – the higher-ups, not to mention the current desperate lot (who are prepared to draw a parallel between watching a match on VF and jumping off a bridge),you’ll soon realise when it’s time to make tactical changes despite the automatic display.
In any case, I hope he’ll let you simmer like a nice little dish before giving in to your demands… Which, unfortunately, I have no doubt he will.

Hace 10hWhat does being like this actually do for you in your personal life? I mean, you’ve just posted this message – which must have taken you five minutes to write – do you feel any better now? It’s fine if you have differing views – everyone’s entitled to their own opinion – but this way of talking every single time is unbearable. I genuinely think you’re a nasty piece of work and that you’re not even trying to put forward your views properly.

Hace 7hThere’s a sense of public welfare in Lebaygue’s posts. Of course, they’re written in his usual, ever-biting style, but he consistently encourages everyone to take a step back, and that does you good.
Even so, shouldn’t we tone it down a little? Aymeric has said he’s thinking about the tools he can give us to improve readability on the MDM. He’s clearly working on these issues. Do you really think you’re advancing your cause by constantly hounding him?
The test carried out by the clubs in the circle and presented by Galy is interesting. It’s worth thinking about, and I think it deserves a response from Aymeric. But is it really productive to pile on yet more layers with comments like “we’re all going to leave”, “we’re all going to jump off a bridge”, “this is rubbish”, “we need to go back exactly as we were before!” or “he lied to us”?
I don’t know – take a deep breath, pull yourselves together a bit. Bring the interesting information to the fore. Right now, everything is being drowned out in a sea of complaints, grumbling and whingeing. It won’t get you anywhere.

Hace 7hIt’s because you’re one of the complainants that you think like that. As for the rest of you, your misdeeds weigh heavily.

Hace 6hOr perhaps we can all see the disaster looming with this update
I’ve been playing the game for a few years now, and seeing such unanimous opinions from blokes who’re not exactly known for getting on with one another makes me think that, actually, we can’t be quite as daft as you seem to be implying.
Well, there are certainly plenty of people who killed Joan of Arc on the pretext that they thought she really was a witch

Hace 5hNo one is implying that ‘you’ are daft, but we are clearly urging you to be patient.
Between jumping to conclusions and predicting the worst for a game that’s already had its fair share of ups and downs, you sound more like Abbé Cauchon than Joan of Arc.
