I browse the VForum regularly. Whilst reading a fairly popular post the other day, I realised just how difficult it is to keep track of all the replies to the original thread.

As you know, contributions are displayed one after the other in chronological order, regardless of whether they’re replies to a previous post or not. This can make reading a bit clunky, or even overwhelming in some cases (popular, controversial or sensitive posts, etc.).

As a regular user of YouTube and Reddit, I’m used to being able to view a comment along with the replies to it by clicking a ‘show replies’ button, and I wondered whether a similar feature might be useful on VF.

In my view, this would improve the flow when browsing and reading VForum topics by grouping replies together, accessible via a tab similar to those already in place (the filter funnel, the book, the reply arrow and the ‘Like’ thumb), to make the most frequently used discussion threads less cluttered.

It would also mean we’d no longer have to reread the original post, which is automatically included at the start of every reply to it and which unnecessarily increases the text density (especially on the app).

I believe this could also improve the quality of discussions and the number of contributions in the long run.
