■ FIRST DAY ■

The Coupe des Neuf has kicked off with some remarkable results. The competing teams are fighting for just 4 qualifying places, making every game crucial.

[*]Morocco, in boss mode:
Last year's champions, Morocco, have made a perfect start to their tournament. Bolstered by their status as favourites, the Moroccan team won their first match, confirming their determination to retain their crown. This first victory, crucial in this competition, sends out a strong signal to its rivals.

[*]Angola are back:
The match between Angola and Mauritania was a real battle. In a match described as "close", Angola finally managed to come out on top. This victory, although difficult, is of vital importance for the Angolans in the race for qualification. Mauritania, for their part, will need to get back on track quickly if they are to keep their hopes alive.

[*]Mali strike hard:
Mali produced arguably the most impressive performance of the opening day. Up against Senegal, the Malian team struck a blow with an emphatic 2-0 win, a resounding victory that underlines Mali's ambitions in this competition and positions them as a serious contender for the top spots.

[*]Nigeria enter quietly:
In their first ever appearance in the competition, Nigeria began with a draw. The team shared the points (0-0) with Zimbabwe in an even match. This cautious start for the Nigerians leaves all options open, but they will need to step up their game if they are to claim one of the coveted four places.

■ SECOND DAY ■

MOROCCO - MAURITANIA: Morocco pulled off a last-gasp win against a solid Mauritanian side (1-0), confirming their dominance on the pitch but showing some difficulty in finishing.

ANGOLA - SENEGAL: Despite getting off to a good start and controlling the ball, Angola ended up sharing the spoils with Senegal (1-1).

[BENIN - MALI:[/u][/b] Benin, making their first appearance in the competition, came up against a well-established Mali side and could only manage a goalless draw (0-0).

RWANDA - ZIMBABWE: Rwanda preserved their victory by taking an early lead (3rd minute) against a combative but unlucky Zimbabwe side (1-0).

Day 3 of the cup saw a very tactical approach from the teams.

MAURITANIA, playing for survival, showed incredible realism by converting their three chances into three goals, while RWANDA's domination remained sterile.

For their part, SENEGAL suffered another setback, losing heavily (3-1) to a solid and well-organised BENIN team.

In an even match against the Atlas Lions (MOROCCO), NIGERIA managed to snatch a draw on their second appearance.

ANGOLA, for their part, continued their quiet but effective progress with an away win over MALI, finalists in the previous edition.

BENIN - NIGERIA:
Big disappointment for the Beninese selection. Dominant, they tried everything against Nigeria, but never managed to convert their numerous chances. The Super Eagles, on the other hand, were clinical, converting their only effort into the only goal of the game.

[ZIMBABWE - MALI:[/u][/b
Everyone knew that this was Mali's last group match, but no one expected such a fresh display and such a well-deserved victory, achieved in style. The warriors of Zimbabwe were deprived of their usual weapons to reduce the attacking impact of the Eagles.

Last day of the first round: the semi-finals at stake
The final day of the first round was decisive in awarding the four remaining places in the semi-finals, offering scenarios full of suspense and twists and turns.

BENIN - RWANDA, fatal status quo:
To qualify, Benin absolutely had to win and spared no effort against a Rwandan side who were also looking for their chance. Unfortunately, their draw (score) did neither team any favours, sealing their respective eliminations.

Nigeria surprised by Angola's experience:
Despite being dominated by Angola, Nigeria were able to open the scoring and manage their lead by strengthening their defence. But Angola's experience in the competition made the difference in the final quarter of an hour, with Angola turning the tables with two goals to secure victory.

Morocco show no mercy to Senegal:
The Atlas Lions crushed the Teranga Lions with three superb goals, showing clear superiority. Senegal, with no real resistance, conceded a heavy defeat.

Green carpet victory for Mauritania:
Mauritania, who started as favourites on paper, benefited from Zimbabwe's absence on match day, winning the match by forfeit.
