I'd like to report something strange. I've requested an IE match for two different times tomorrow (I don't have the screen to back it up, but I did have the two hourglasses).

This evening at 20:00 the two requests disappeared and instead I had a friendly against a level 1 afk at the same time.

Is this something new, a bug or something else?

I had the same one earlier in the season!

I had the same thing yesterday, so I'm rescheduling an IE for 10am today and I've got another friendly match.

When IE's proposal is not accepted, the game places a friendly to compensate, so if you make a proposal at the last minute in a little-used slot, you run the risk of nobody joining you.

My federation match has just been changed to a friendly me....
