Hello, fellow managers.

I’d like to put forward a little idea: given that we can view the list of former players who have played for our clubs, why not have a system, just like in real life, which allows us to receive a bonus – as in the real world, amounting to 5 per cent of the transfer fee – when players who have come exclusively through our academy are transferred in the future?

Thank you for reading and for your feedback.

Enjoy the game

A brilliant idea

Tony_07_23: Bonjour amis manager.

Bon jeu

5 per cent might be a bit excessive… OK, it’s true to life, but in VF, a player can be transferred 20 times in the same season.

Just regarding the first transfer – if it’s sold 20 times, I’m against it, but personally, I’m in favour of the first one

So what would be the problem with a 20x transfer?
If a player is transferred 20 times, they’ll still be subject to a 10 per cent or 50 per cent tax, depending on their length of service, won’t they?
So, if 5 per cent of the 10 per cent (or 50 per cent) transfer fee is paid to the player’s former club, what’s the problem?

I think it’s an excellent idea.

No, for the first transfer when he leaves his youth club, there’s only the transfer fee – no other compensation.
I’m talking about a percentage of transfer fees once he’s no longer at his youth club, throughout his career.
And to pick up on the arguments made a little earlier, if the player is a bit of a flip-flopper and changes clubs 10 times in a season, we could perhaps base it on 2 per cent or even 1 per cent.

I did think they hadn’t understood what you meant...

On paper, it sounds nice.

In reality, on VF: I get a rubbish potential from my CDF halfway through the season, which I sell to someone or to my Multi 1.

My multi 2 buys it back: cash. They sell it on to a legitimate player or to multi 3: cash. Multi 4 buys it back: cash. And so on and so forth.

Etc etc.

All that for just 5 per cent? 😅 He’s really clever 🤣🤣

It’s a matter of perspective.
5 per cent of a 5M transfer fee is peanuts.
5 per cent of the transfer fees for all the players who’ve come through your academy could potentially add up to a very, very tidy seasonal income.
5 per cent of a dozen or so transfer fees for every player coming through a youth academy in a multi-team farm system – that’s the risk of being swamped by cash.

What’s more, as it’s ‘magic money’ that fills the coffers, it gradually encourages you to raise prices. And that, in turn, means even more cash from that little 5 per cent tax.

If I’ve thought of it, our multi-manager friend has thought of it too!

Multi-accounts need to be detected and removed so we can have a clean playing field and finally put some great things in place.
A 5 per cent fee on the first transfer would be a good idea, but of course, with multi-accounts, it’s becoming difficult.

I don’t see the point in it; for a start, it would be at the expense of whoever is buying and reselling.

Secondly, this mechanism makes sense in real life because it’s designed to redistribute money to smaller youth-developing clubs (even if bigger clubs can benefit from it too), given that they’ve invested in training players.

At the moment in VF, if you sell a player at 17 years and 1 day, you’ve already made a good profit, but all their development still needs to be done.

So the best approach would be to apply this 5 per cent only to the player’s first transfer to his new club.
So, I sell a player I’ve trained at my club to X; in the contract, we include the 5 per cent profit clause on the next sale. When X sells the player, I receive the 5 per cent – that’s it. If Y then sells him to Z, I get nothing.

Basically, it’s only when the club sells the player on that a bonus is paid to the club that trained him – not in the case of a direct sale
If A sells him to B, who keeps him for five seasons and then sells him to F, the fee is paid at that point.
It’s worth noting that if it’s the club that trained the player, it doesn’t receive the fee – which makes sense, given that it’s getting its original player back.
So I’d say the bonus is paid on the second transfer; after that, it’s something that needs looking into a bit more

Let’s try to refine the proposal to prevent abuse and ensure the game doesn’t inject money.

Here is my proposal for refining it, which is much closer to reality and suited to Virtuafoot.

In reality, the solidarity contribution (as it is known) amounts to 5 per cent of the transfer fee. And this is shared amongst all the clubs that have trained the player, not just the club from whose academy the player came. And this is distributed according to the number of years (seasons on VF) the player spent in training up to the age of 23 (on VF, we’d say until he reaches maturity)

For VF, I propose that this mechanism be suspended until the player reaches maturity, i.e. after their progress margin reaches 0 per cent.

In this case, the club from which the young player emerged from the CDF is known.

It is also noted on the progression page that the clubs where the young player was at the start of each season during his training period are known.

I know some people will ask: What about the clubs the young player has passed through?

The aim is to reward the trainer’s efforts and encourage reseller purchases.

After that, the mechanism can be activated.

The distribution can be based on a proportion multiplied by the number of seasons spent.

Example: a young player who leaves the academy at 17 with a 22-year threshold

  • 17 years old: Club A (the academy’s club)
  • 18 years old: Club B
  • 19 years old: Club B
  • Age 20: Club C
  • Age 21: Club C
  • Age 22: Club C

That makes a total of 6 seasons.

Let us take

  • X = 5% of the total sale price of the player
  • Y = X/6
  • Z = The club’s share.

So Club A’s share will be Za = Y

Club B’s share will be Zb = 2Y

Club C’s share will be Zc = 3Y

Normally: X = Za + Zb + Zc

Example using figures.

For a 22-year-old player sold for 100M

So 5 per cent gives 100 × 0.05 = 5M

Here, our X = 5M

Y = 5M/6 = 833.33 €

So Club A’s share is Za = €833,330

Club B’s share is Zb = 2 × 833.33 = €1,666,660

Club C’s share is Zc = 3 × 833.33 = 2,999,990 €

X = 2,999,990 + 1,666,660 + 833,330 ≈ 5M

This means that it won’t just be the big clubs with extensive facilities.
Even the newcomers can train players for a fee and receive compensation for their good work throughout their players’ careers.
