The rules for this year's competition remain the same as those for the last edition.
There will be 16 qualifiers at the end of the 1st phase.

However, a clarification has been made to the rules to avoid the disruptions that occurred during the 13th edition:
The deadline for the 4 first-phase matches is Sunday 29 March.
The list of qualifiers will be published on Monday 30 March.
Any federation that has played or scheduled more than 4 matches will not be included, nor will any federation that has played fewer than 4 matches but has scheduled a match after 29 March.
Clearly, if you wish to take part in the 2nd phase of the competition, do not start any matches after 29 March and wait for the manual scheduling (there will be no right of way).

Our friend Blagoge, in his dual role as admin and coach of North Macedonia, has created the matches for Monday evening.

Reminder for those who are not used to the finals: as the matches have been created manually, you must validate your invitations, otherwise your players will not turn up and you will lose by forfeit.

NB: in the past, some players have validated their invitations late, very close to kick-off, and the players have not turned up!
It would seem that a minimum of 1 hour's notice is required. So the easiest thing to do is to validate your selection now and then check with a club that has a player selected to make sure that the player appears on its list of federation players.

Austria beat Germany 6-1

Results of the 1/8 finals
Yesterday, 4 matches ended in a draw and of the 4 other matches, two were particularly close and 2 were marked by a very large domination by one of the two federations.

The 2 matches with very large scores
Austria impressed observers by thumping Germany 6-1, while Chad comfortably beat Jamaica 5-0. The 2 teams will meet in the quarter-finals.

The two matches with a narrow victory
Northern Macedonia sprang a surprise by beating Iceland 2-1, despite their familiarity with the finals of this competition, and Australia, who had qualified at number 16, also caused a surprise by beating Trinidad and Tobago, who had topped the first phase by a score of 1-0.

The 4 draws
It was the cruel penalty shoot-out that provided half the quarter-final draw. Here are the details of the shoot-outs.
