Good answer from k3vin59319, except that it’s a draw that determines the ‘other clubs’, not seniority.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I’d like to address another ‘problem’ #?_lang=fr#match?mid=6920352: the visiting club is delaying the first round of the cup because they’re involved in a friendly tournament. Is there nothing that can be done?

I’d just like to point out that this is incorrect.

There are 32 clubs in the cup, and it comprises the 32 highest-ranked teams in the league.

It makes sense that the top eight from Division 1 would be included.

No, the cup is filled by division (D1, D2, D3, and so on) to involve as many clubs as possible based on the number of entrants, and then selects a few ‘chosen ones’ to make up the numbers in the lower divisions; otherwise, the big clubs that change leagues would be in the cup, which isn’t the case.

When I was in the VF Masters, some inactive players had played in the cup and I hadn’t; the VF ranking wasn’t the deciding factor.

Check for yourself – it’s always the teams with the highest four-season points totals/rankings that are selected.

Take another look at my example from the VF Masters: same division, some inactive players took part but I didn’t.

A player with a rating of 6 may not take part, but a player with a rating of 2 from the same division may; the rating cannot therefore be a criterion used by the game.
