I have a colleague who gets on well with everyone, but at the start of the season he keeps receiving dozens of requests from the same opponent to reschedule a match. Every time he has to turn them down; he’s explained several times that he can’t change the time, but he gets another request straight away. Even when he blocks them. It doesn’t seem possible to ignore them, otherwise the request is accepted.

It’s great that the option exists. But is there no way to give a definitive ‘no’? Or for ignoring the request to count as a refusal (and for it not to be possible to resubmit the request without a response)?

I agree, this is very unusual.

By its very nature, a ‘no’ is final.
It is a sign of a lack of manners to believe otherwise and to use persistence as a means of wearing the other person down to get your way.
If this happens again (or if you experience this with others), please do not hesitate to contact the administration team, who will be happy to ensure that the initial “no” is respected.

In my view, when someone pays for VIP status, the opponent shouldn’t even have to say yes or no; otherwise, what’s the point of being a VIP?

When you pay for VIP access, you get a choice of seats for home matches, and that’s quite enough. As for the rest, just because you’re paying for VIP doesn’t mean you’ve got the right to walk all over the other players.

In this case, this opponent isn’t a VIP; it’s just matches like this against top-ranked players – especially as he isn’t even playing to win. It makes you wonder where the credits are coming from; I’ve come across the same situation before when playing against him.
